Background information
Car vs. inline skates: racing through Zurich, part 1
by Simon Balissat
One of our Galaxus adverts shows an SUV being held up by inline skaters. A real-life scenario? Simon in a car and Michael on inline skates set out on a head-to-head race through Zurich.
Three stages, three everyday situations, two means of transport. First off, we’re heading from the digitec store to the recycling point to dispose of our empty bottles. Stage two takes us to the local supermarket and in our last stage, we’re picking up our friends and meeting up on Sechseläutenplatz. While Michael is taking the direct route on his inline skates, Simon in the SUV is moving no faster than 50 km/h.
After the first two stages, it’s 1:1. But the last stage is a tough one: first, Michael and Simon are picking up a friend each at the indoor swimming pool «Hallenbad City» and then, they’re heading to Sechseläutenplatz to enjoy an ice cream. It is the longest and most demanding of all three stages.
Start
Migros Wengihof
Stop off
Hallenbad City
Destination
Sechseläutenplatz
Linear distance
2,000 metres
Simon has to park his car in the underground car park. Michael can skate directly onto Sechseläutenplatz, but is facing the longest of all stages. Both might struggle with finding the fastest way, as they’ve never been to Hallenbad City before.
Who is going to win our «Car vs. inline skates» challenge?
When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
