Get your hair back on track

I wanted to be blonde. The next thing I remember: dead, lifeless hair and deep regret. I then made a decision: I would reanimate my mane.

It was a gradual process. And yet I suddenly realised it: My hair used to look better. The constant bleaching had taken its toll on my mane. The result after two years of colouring: almost two thirds of my hair had gone. There was no longer any sign of growth and volume was a foreign concept. How could I have let it get this far?

That was seven years ago. Since then, I have literally turned my hair care routine on its head and worked wonders with it. My hair is healthier than ever. There is no longer any sign of its once disastrous state. Today, I want to tell you how I achieved this.

Blonding is no longer an option

After deciding to make a change, I immediately had my platinum blonde mane tinted at the hairdresser to match my natural colour. Positive side effect: because the colouring smoothes the hair cuticle and makes it shiny, my hair immediately looked healthier. From then on, I let it grow out. The only blonde highlights I still have today are at the ends of my hair. Otherwise, bleaching is taboo.

Make a cut

Your hair needs a fresh start. With a radical cut, you not only get rid of all the broken ends, you also symbolically start a new chapter. Losing length can hurt. Especially if you like to wear your hair long. Dare to do it anyway! Tell your hairdresser to cut off as much as necessary so that the ends of your hair are healthy again. This will speed up the regeneration process because your hair won't keep breaking off. In the long term, you will achieve your desired length faster.

Swallow?

I don't want to persuade anyone here that they need to take dietary supplements to have healthy hair. However, I personally decided to go that extra mile with the capsules from Phyto Paris (unfortunately not available in our range). As support, so to speak. This way I could be sure that my hair and nails were getting all the nutrients they needed. The effect was evident after just under a month. Not only did my hair grow faster, but new baby hairs appeared at the roots. I still take this product every now and then as a cure. However, I recommend that you always discuss this with your doctor beforehand.

Wood hairbrush

I may just be imagining it, but since I started using a wooden hairbrush, I don't have to wash my hair as often. This is probably because the wooden bristles soak up the grease from the roots and pull it down to the dry ends. This means that the ends become brittle less quickly. The bristles also massage my scalp, which stimulates blood circulation and therefore the growth of my hair.

Limit

In favour of more volume, I have greatly reduced the use of care products. I only use a shampoo without silicones and parabens and then my favourite hair mask. I don't use conditioner at all. Whereas I used to religiously reach for a hair fluid, I now only apply natural alternatives such as argan oil to my wet ends. I can hardly say it out loud, but I don't use heat protection either, which is okay because I rarely use the straightener or curling iron. What I can't do without, however, is blow-drying my hair. Air-drying is not an option for me because the end result looks anything but presentable. Instead, I use the Dyson Airwarp, which at least dries my mane without high heat

Gentle helpers

I laughed at invisibobbles for a long time - until I got my hands on some myself. Yes, they are ugly. But have you ever had one in your hair? Then you'll understand my enthusiasm. You can use them to tie up your mane without roughening the surface of your hair like conventional elastics and leaving a kink in the lengths. This prevents hair breakage. Alternatively, there are also gentle elastics made from silk or you can simply use a clip.

And while we're on the topic, it's best to avoid not only ordinary hair ties, but also stressful hairstyles: [[marketingpage:10476]]

Have patience

Changes and progress only appear after a while. In my case, it took almost two years until my growth was back to normal, my natural hair colour was completely gone and the hair that had fallen out had grown back.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
