In 1999, Omar Rodriguez founded the initiative "Cooperativa Cafe-talera Capucas Limitada, COCAFCAL." COCAFCAL is committed to better utilizing environmental, financial, and personnel structures to improve both the quality of life for local families and the quality of coffee grown in the Copan region. The village of Copucas is located in western Honduras, very close to the renowned national park "Celaque" (which translates to "water box"). Due to the favorable soil and climate conditions, the land around this small village is ideal for coffee cultivation. Annually, 181 tons of raw coffee are produced, which is fully sold just a few weeks after the harvest ends.
