The Lindt brand was founded in 1879. Rodolphe Lindt, the son of a Bernese pharmacist, wanted to make chocolate. At that time, chocolate was still hard, difficult to eat, and hard to process. It was Lindt who succeeded in producing shiny, melting chocolate. A true sensory delight and a real pleasure. The foundation for success was laid, and twenty years later he founded the now well-known Lindt & Sprüngli AG together with Rudolf Sprüngli, the founder of the first chocolate factory in German-speaking Switzerland in 1845.
