The argan tree (Argania spinosa) is a thorny tree with origins dating back millions of years. It grows exclusively in the southwest of Morocco and is often referred to as the "olive tree of Morocco."

The benefits of argan oil no longer need to be proven. For centuries, the Berbers have used it for nutrition as well as for body and hair care. Today, argan oil is attracting significant attention from women and in various industries, whether in medical, cosmetic, or food sectors.

It is a very rare oil, as its production is carried out exclusively by women and requires many steps. First, the fruits of the argan tree are harvested, then the fruit shells are removed until only the nut kernel remains, which is then cracked open. This process requires great care, as the valuable inner almond kernel must not be damaged. The almond kernels are then roasted over low heat, crushed, and subsequently pressed. This results in a nutty-flavored, sandy-colored oil. Its distinctive taste is highly valued in the kitchen and is used to enhance the flavor of dishes. For cosmetic purposes, the oil is made from untreated almond kernels.

It takes about 20 hours of labor to produce one liter of argan oil.

Argan oil is rich in fatty acids such as oleic and linoleic acid and contains about 85% unsaturated fatty acids, similar to olive oil. Compared to olive oil, argan oil has the advantage of being richer in polyunsaturated fatty acids (34% linoleic acid) and contains ten times more vitamin E. The benefits of argan oil are countless, serving culinary, cosmetic, and therapeutic purposes.
