My April beauty favourites
by Natalie Hemengül
Our range includes over 47,000 beauty products. And the trend is upwards. So finding the real treasures could take some time. A little help can't hurt. My tip of the month: Garnier Fructis Hair Food masks.
Your hair also deserves a balanced diet. If it does get hungry, you can serve it something nourishing. For example, the new Hair Food masks from Garnier's Fructis series. They're vegan, contain no silicones, parabens or artificial colours, and their formula is 98% natural. And the remaining 2%? According to the manufacturer, they allow "a pleasant application and a long shelf life of the formula". According to the label, this includes fragrance, for example.
At home, the colourful little pots have colonised my bathroom for almost a month. And it doesn't look like they'll be leaving it any time soon. I admit that in terms of consistency and appearance, the product leaves a lot to be desired. But who cares as long as it helps make my hair look better?
Garnier insists that the masks are "nourishing without weighing down" the hair. I agree 100%. This is one of the features that has made me a big fan of the product line. My only problem with hair masks up until now has always been that weighing down effect that prevented any volume and therefore made daily use impossible. By the way, my favourite masks are the banana and papaya ones. They not only smell great, but also make my hair soft, voluminous and - very importantly - easy to detangle!
Probably the ideal treatment for your hair. But I'll leave it to you to judge for yourself. You can use the product in three different ways: as a detangling treatment, as a 3-minute mask or as a leave-in treatment. I haven't tried the last application yet, but I'd recommend using it as a detangler and as a mask. There are four 'flavours' to choose from. Each one is made for a particular hair type. But they all have these things in common: a combination on a base of soya, coconut and sunflower oil used to replace silicones.
Banana for very dry hair → nourishes [[productlist:9116716]]
Papaya for damaged hair → repairs [[productlist:9116719]]
Goji berries for coloured hair → revives shine [[productlist:9116718]]
Macadamia for dry, unruly hair → disciplines [[productlist:9116717]]
The masks smell so good that I wasn't surprised to see little warning symbols indicating that the products are not for ingestion and should be kept out of children's reach. What's more, at 390 millilitres, this treatment is better equipped in terms of quantity than any other mask I've ever held in my hand.
Positive: the ingredients and their origin are clearly listed on the back of the product. The unnatural 2% were marked with three asterisks (***).
Happy eating!
As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
