Product Name: 1:48 A-7E Corsair II
Model Size: 29.0 cm
The Vought A-7 Corsair II was designed and built in the early 1960s to meet the US Navy's requirements for a new carrier-based attack aircraft that could replace the A-1 Skyraider with a piston engine and the A-4 Skyhawk jets. The A-7, developed directly from the fuselage of the carrier-based fighter aircraft Vought F-8 Crusader, entered service in 1965. It was characterized by its large frontal air intake and its 35° swept wings with folding tips, which were designed to reduce space requirements on aircraft carrier decks, as well as its modern head-up display that allowed for improved operational efficiency. The Corsair II had the capability to carry an impressive array of attack armaments, typically consisting of free-fall bombs, guided Paveway bombs, and air-to-ground missiles. The A-7E was the last version built for the US Navy, featuring even better operational performance. The A-7E could utilize Harpoon anti-ship missiles and AGM-88 HARM radar-seeking missiles.
