Clay plant pot in terracotta ensures good water drainage in the pot, preventing ice formation caused by waterlogging from cracking the container. The drainage hole should be clear and, if necessary, covered with an upward-curved piece of clay to allow water to flow out properly. Place the pot on feet so it doesn't freeze to the ground and water can drain away in all directions. If possible, position the pot in a sheltered spot away from rain and drafts to avoid saturation and the risk of destructive ice formation.
