The D fuse system is a first-generation screw fuse system that is still widely used in installations. It is applied in low-voltage systems where the fuse inserts are accessible to laypersons and can be replaced by them. The D fuse range includes sizes NDZ, DII, DIII, DIV, and DV. D fuse bases with D fuse inserts of the operating class gG are used to protect conductors and installations. D fuse inserts safely disconnect excessive overloads and short-circuit currents up to the rated disconnection current. They also protect electrical devices and installations from the electrodynamic effects of high short-circuit currents. DIN VDE 0636-3. The screw fuse inserts and the design of the fuses ensure that no larger fuses can be screwed in than what is permissible for the conductor.
