Geistlich Shoemaker's Glue

Schusterleim Exclusive is a solvent-based, toluene-free sole adhesive made from polychloroprene. It has been specifically developed for applications in shoe repair and orthopedics. The adhesive offers good initial adhesion and can be applied both cold and hot. It is suitable for a variety of materials such as low-fat leather, polyurethane, rubber, transparent rubber, crepe, pore crepe, textiles, EVA, and thermoplastic rubber (TR), although preliminary tests are required for the latter. The adhesive is not suitable for soft PVC. The bonding surfaces must be dry, clean, and pre-treated depending on the material. Rubber and EVA should be sanded shortly before bonding, leather should be roughened, and polyurethane should preferably be sanded or degreased with an appropriate thinner. Thermoplastic rubber should be halogenated depending on its composition. The adhesive is applied to both surfaces, with a drying time of about 5 to 10 minutes. The open time is approximately 30 minutes. The connection is made by pressing firmly by hand or with a pressing device. If the open time is exceeded, bonding can be achieved through heat activation at 70–80 °C. The final strength is reached after about 24 hours.
