Wild Country Friend

Reliable clamping action in cracks. The Wild Country Friend is a classic camming device with a large usable range per size and a clean overlap between sizes. The machined, polished cam lobes made of soft, untreated aluminum with milled grooves provide optimal friction on rock. This is a real advantage, but it only matters if you place the Friend cleanly.

Place without unnecessary rope drag. The combination of a thumb loop and an extendable sling is something you quickly appreciate when placing. You can hold the Friend in a controlled manner while setting it and extend the sling by up to about 20 cm if needed. This saves quickdraws and reduces rope drag in many crack lines, and can also help minimize the "walking" of the cams. The Magic-Cord construction features a seamless core-sheath solution that is easier to pull out and less likely to snag than traditional slings. A wear indicator shows you when it's time to replace the sling.

Additionally, compatibility with the Pro Key Light is practical in case a Friend gets stuck. In size 4, a spring-assisted system for symmetrical closing is included, which can also be operated one-handed with some practice.
