Welinder Classic

The Viking Skull by Per Welinder was illustrated by V.C. Johnson in 1984. The fantasy graphic featuring the tusks was meant to reflect Per's Swedish heritage. Originally, it was associated with his freestyle model without the background of the rock structure, which was added in an updated version in 1986. In 1987, the new graphic was adapted in full for a street model as Per began performing freestyle/street demos. The runestone script from the eighth century spells out Per's name as well as the quote in the background: "Seek and strive, push beyond with strength, yours, not theirs, that is the key." This was conceived by Per. The graphic was also used for T-shirts and stickers.
