One of the outstanding properties of spirulina and chlorella is their odor-neutralizing effect. For animals that emit odors through their skin or mouth without any medical diagnosis, spirulina and chlorella can be a worthwhile alternative to commercial chlorophyll pastes. They are particularly recommended because they are not mixed with preservatives or minerals/vitamins.

Spirulina is cultivated in extremely alkaline freshwater lakes or facilities with pH values between 8 and 10. During metabolism, it supports the formation of bases and counteracts acidification. Its iodine content is low (not a seaweed), making it safe to feed to animals with thyroid issues. The dried powder contains up to 70% high-quality, easily digestible protein with nearly all essential amino acids. It is therefore an excellent energy source for animals with increased activity demands.

Spirulina platensis is not an algae in the strict sense but is classified as a type of blue-green bacteria. Its cells lack a nucleus, and the cell wall is so soft that the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals abundantly present in its organism can be easily absorbed through the intestines.

Dosage recommendation:
For a course of treatment (6–8 weeks), we recommend 1/2 teaspoon daily for cats and small dogs, and up to 1–2 teaspoons for medium to large dogs.
