Horgenglarus Select

Select brings Parisian ambiance into the home. A wooden chair where hours pass pleasantly. Reading fifty pages of Kafka or a half dozen newspapers, playing chess for hours, developing and discussing ideas – preferably in French – this is the world of the legendary "Café Select," immortalized in images and literature. Architect Willy Boesiger opened it in 1935 on the ground floor of the former "Du Lac" hotel on Limmatquai, to bring Parisian café culture to Zurich. The Select was the favorite café of the bohemian crowd, frequented by writers, actors, architects, journalists, and intellectuals, a gathering place for outsiders and nonconformists. Klaus Mann, Max Frisch, and Friedrich Dürrenmatt were among the guests at the Select. In memory of the establishment that closed in 1998, Zurich DJ Oliver Stumm opened the bistro "Café Select" on New York's Lafayette Street with furniture from horgenglarus, subtly introducing Swiss flair to the metropolis. However, Werner Max Moser's wooden chair select 1-370 is not only intended for the epicenters of the avant-garde or gastronomy; it quickly gained popularity among a wide range of consumers.
