Gubi Pedrera PD1 table lamp

Pedrera Lighting Series. In 1955, the real estate company managing Antoni Gaudí's famous residential building "Pedrera" in Barcelona plans to add additional living units in its attic. The managers turn to architect Barba Corsini, who designs thirteen individual apartments (which are promptly numbered from One to Fourteen due to Spanish superstition). The commission also includes the implementation of all furniture and lighting, for which Barba Corsini draws inspiration from the shape of the chimneys that Antoni Gaudí originally placed on the building. Although Barba Corsini receives great international acclaim for his work on this project, the Danish manufacturer Gubi only releases the entire lighting collection as a late tribute in 2010: Whether it's the table lamp PD1, floor lamp PD2, or pendant lamp PD3 - Gubi's lighting series continues to prove itself as an enhancement to home decor even today. Rising on a typically 1950s, delicately zigzagged three-foot base is a round lampshade that is more complex in structure than it appears: the outer perforated metal shade is coated with wet paint, while the inside features a fire-retardant plastic to ensure that the burning light bulb (E 27 socket, max. 100 W) does not glare in the eyes. A textile-wrapped cord with a toggle switch completes the successful Pedrera PD1 table lamp by Gubi.
