The VII and VIIA versions both have the same manufacturer's number. This makes it impossible for us to determine exactly which version is supplied.
However, as stock turnover is usually very fast, you should receive the newer "VIIA" version - i.e. with an external charger for the battery.
The manufacturers are responsible for cashback campaigns, it is best to contact Sony directly to clarify whether this camera is included in the campaign.
Hello Sumoro
Battery and scene selection have already been answered.
There is no camera case, but there is a practical camera bag that can be worn around the neck and offers good protection. This is available from Digitec: Sony LCJ--RXK at Fr. 69.90
You don't have to understand everything about Sony... even the A6x00 models don't have a USB-C port. Not even the latest ones. Sony only builds them into the full-frame cameras. And has been for almost four years. The 7RIII was the first Sony with a USB-C port.
On top of that, the micro USB port is used for remote releases.
Yes - the Sony RX100 VII can be a little confusing in this regard, as it has lots of focus modes and some automatic behaviour prevents the collimator from being 'locked' in the centre.
Here's what you need to know and how to fix it π
βΈ»
π― Problem
In automatic mode (Intelligent Auto or Superior Auto), the RX100 VII manages focus itself:
β‘οΈ It automatically chooses the AF area and the type of collimator (face detection, tracking, etc.).
β‘οΈ In these modes, you cannot manually impose a fixed collimator in the centre - it is deliberately limited.
βΈ»
β Solution: switch to a more flexible shooting mode
To lock the collimator in the centre, you need to use a mode where the camera lets you control the focus, such as:
- P mode (Programme Auto)
- A mode (Aperture priority)
- S mode (Shutter priority)
- M mode (Manual)
Then:
1. press the Fn button β select "Focus Mode" and choose AF-S (or AF-C if you want continuous).
2. still in the Fn menu, choose "Focus Area" and select "Flexible Spot".
3. press the centre of the control dial to move the collimator, then MENU β Custom Key Settings to assign a key to the "Refocus Focus Area" function (useful for bringing the focus area back to the centre).
4 If you want it to always remain in the centre, don't move it afterwards. You can also activate the "AF Area Auto Clear: Off" option to keep it displayed.
βΈ»
βοΈ Tip: "AF locked to centre" permanent
If you want the collimator to remain in the centre even after switching off/on:
1. go to MENU β Tab AF2 (or Camera Settings 1, page 6 or 7 depending on version).
2. select Focus Area β Fixed Centre.
3 This mode keeps the AF point strictly centred and never moves it, even by mistake.
I understand your concern π You're probably not doing anything wrong - it's mostly that the pairing flow of the RX100 VII and the Imaging Edge Mobile app (Sony) isn't very intuitive.
A few points to clarify:
1. QR Code and first connection
- The QR code does not appear until the very first connection between your camera and the application.
- Once your camera has been registered with Imaging Edge Mobile, the QR code is useless: the transfer goes straight through the registered Wi-Fi.
- This is why you no longer see the "Scan QR code" option β it has disappeared, because your RX100 VII is already linked to your smartphone.
2 How to transfer your photos now
- On your RX100 VII, press the Menu button β go to Network β Send to smartphone.
- Choose your images, then select This smartphone.
- The camera will then create the Wi-Fi connection (it may ask you to enable Wi-Fi on your smartphone).
- Open Imaging Edge Mobile β the app will connect automatically and the photos will be transferred.
3 If you absolutely must reuse a QR code
- You need to delete the device registered in Imaging Edge Mobile (in the app settings).
- Then make the association again: on your RX100 VII β Menu β Network β Connect to smartphone β (with QR Code).
- The device will then display a QR code, which you scan in the app (Add a new device).
π So to sum up: if your aim is just to transfer photos, you don't need the QR code - it's only for the very first setup.
Would you like me to give you a detailed step-by-step guide (screenshot by screenshot) to transferring images from the RX100 VII to Android, without going through the QR code again?
