Multiroom systems

Since the beginning of May 2026, Bose has discontinued the cloud services of the app and speaker. This means that the system, which came onto the market 13 years ago, can still be used via Bluetooth, Spotify and the like, but is greatly reduced in comparison to its previous use. Unfortunately, Bose doesn't seem to offer a successor product, even though the Soundtouch speakers made really great sound, and I can't support the switch to Sonos because of the software problems. So what next? After all, we have 8 speakers and an integration into the home cinema, which still work perfectly. In addition to the financial "damage" and the time and effort required to replace them, I find the sustainability strategy of large corporations and now especially Bose really questionable, even reprehensible. At least you used to be able to listen to the radio synchronised in several rooms via FM, which was also destroyed with DAB. I'm really at a crossroads right now and can't see a satisfactory solution. I would love to read your thoughts or ideas, thank you.

Hello everyone We are looking for a suitable music system for our clubhouse [approx. 120m2). We have two TVs which also need to be integrated into the system. The main use is to listen to music via Spotify and watch sporting events/films on the TVs. We have WLAN in the restaurant, which I also want to use as a communication protocol. For whatever reason, I have the feeling that the solution is a Sonos solution. How many boxes are needed for 120m2? Which ones do you suggest? How can I connect/integrate the TVs? I'm about to "buy in" to a Multiroom system and am still wavering between Sonos and Musiccast. Which is important to me: - Alexa + Spotify integration (both can, I already have Amazon Echos). - Option to upgrade to good stereo sound with real speakers (Sonos AMP just released, but Yamaha has worlds more options with Musiccast both in the AV and stereo receiver area and more is possible in terms of quality at the top end with Yamaha, with Sonos it's AMP or no AMP). - Option for a 4.0 system on the TV, preferably via HDMI ARC (stereo at the front of the TV, two small wireless speakers for surround) - Sound and appearance "as good as possible - Future-proof - No third-party components (except Alexa or Google), I want to be able to control everything by voice and not activate a component with the remote control. Where I am still most unsure and need your opinion and help: 1. you always read that Sonos is the more stable system, with Musiccast you still read about connection problems. But it seems to have improved. Is Musiccast stable now? 2) The sound (Play:1 vs. Musiccast 20) is almost always good about Sonos, but the opinions about Musiccast are extremely varied. Sometimes better than Sonos, sometimes much worse. "Analytical and clean without a noticeable bass boost" to "far too much bass". I am extremely confused. So which system gives more? Is the Musiccast comparable to the Play:1 or ONE, or does one of the two fall significantly short in sound? Do you know of any way to test both systems against each other? Unfortunately, many dealers only have one or the other.

Hi everyone. at home i currently have a sony av receiver, lg projector, a subwoofer, 5 sony speakers with cable connection and a boom box... now i would like to have the following available in the future: - at least 5.1 surround sound for film and game evenings - listening to music with friends in the living room and dining room - ideally the possibility of integrating music in the kitchen and bedroom using the box Now there are wireless sonos speakers at ikea which I would like to buy for cinema evenings so that the film feeling is as realistic as possible and the action scenes just sweep over my head. I was told that I should buy the playbar. I could use it to integrate my subwoofer and the ikeaboxes. But somehow I doubt whether that will be enough. I would also like to integrate the wired speakers, but I don't have to if there are good alternatives. Then I read that there are Sonos Amp, Beam and Bar, what's the difference? If I then also want to play music via ipad/iphone when friends are there, in the living room (where the projector is), dining room and kitchen at the same time, what do I need for this? Can I also integrate the boombox? As I also want to have a box in the bedroom and bathroom which I can either control individually with music when my partner is listening to music in the living room, or I want to play the same music in the whole flat, is that even possible? If everything works, I would be prepared to invest a little... if only a few things, it can also be a bit cheaper (e.g. the ikea alternative)... The more I find out, the more confused I get, which is why I'm hoping for a bit more clarity from one of you specialists... :-) Best regards

Good day together I have set up two Xiomi Smart Speakers in a small coffee shop. Since there are several workers who would like to operate the boxes, I am looking for a fixed system that can be connected to the power supply to operate the two boxes (like a stereo system in the past), but with a W-Lan Xiomi Smart Speaker. Hello all. Unfortunately, our amplifier in the workshop has had its day. Now I would like to upgrade the workshop radio for myself and my staff. Can you recommend suitable hardware for my project? Info: - Cost range up to 1000.- €. - Workshop approx. 25x35 metres - A loudspeaker system should be placed at each long end. Both should of course play the same thing. Connection via WLAN or Bluetooth. - Of course, it doesn't have to sound high-end or be as loud as a pig, it's still a workshop... - Internet radio or DAB - As easy to use as possible, best is to press the on/off button and the radio runs, no app or mobile phone required. Or set it up once via app/mobile phone and then it runs. Not everyone in our house is as tech-savvy as I am and I don't want anyone to be able to switch on the radio when I'm not there.... - If at all possible, time-controlled switching on/off? That would be ingenious. It would also be very cool if you could set a different radio station every day, for example. But that is absolutely not necessary. I'm looking forward to your suggestions. Can the Marshall Multiroom speakers also be connected via WLAN with speakers from other manufacturers? If so, which ones? Or in other words: Can speakers from other manufacturers also be integrated into the Marshall Multiroom system? And if so, how do I do that?

I am looking for a loudspeaker that offers the following: 1. no Alexa or Google Assistant (unless it can be deactivated). 2. I want physical buttons on the speaker where I can save presets, e.g. for an online radio station. I don't want to have to have my mobile phone permanently at hand. I bought the Audio Pro C10 but it's probably going back. the Android app for it feels like it's from 2009 and I could NOT for the life of me programme the 6 preset buttons that are on the device..........

How can I find out which systems can play music from a NAS? For example, Heos 5 can do this. Could a filter be built in for this?

I am in possession of two Samsung R1 speakers, which unfortunately are no longer manufactured. Is it possible to connect them to a Multiroom system of another brand? AKG and Harman Kardon are now part of the same group. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you

My music is stored in FLAC format on a HD, nicely grouped into folders. I'm looking for a multi-room system with which I can listen to these sounds everywhere in my branched-out flat. Spotify etc. don't interest me, and I don't need Alexa & Co. to operate the system. I would also like to have the CD player on the system, as well as the DAB radio. The important thing is the good sound quality of the FLAC files. Does anyone know what is suitable for this?

Hello I am looking for assessments from professionals who ideally already know the different manufacturers and can describe the advantages and disadvantages (Sonos, Bose, JBL, Marshall). What I am looking for: 1. speaker for listening to music is first priority 2. speakers that can possibly also be used for watching TV (I have an older box, probably only digital output and no Bluetooth). 3. live in a small 3.5 room flat, so performance is not the most important thing 4. I would like to be able to add more speakers to the system later (multiroom). 5. the app to manage the speakers etc. should be simple, understandable and as reliable as possible. Are there any differences? 6) What about updates for the speakers? I have already heard that this sometimes has to be done with a cable via a notebook or similar. Are there any differences here? 7 Integration in Google Home App (Chromecast) would certainly also be great Does this only work with WLAN speakers or also JBL Bluetooth? For me, the only option is a Multiroom system with Chromecast built-in, because the app coverage on Android is simply unbeatable and I also want to connect devices from other manufacturers (e.g. AV receivers) with it. Which brand can you recommend or what experience do you have with it? Can all systems be paired with other Chromecasts (e.g. AV receivers) regardless of the manufacturer's apps? The most interesting for me at first glance would be: Sony (why doesn't the Sony Multiroom range come with the Multiroom systems at Digitec?), Harman Kardon, B&O

Hello together We are looking for a sensible multi-room solution for our office. We have WIFI everywhere and would like to run a radio station in several rooms: - Is there a WIFI enabled radio that can play across multiple speakers? - Would we rather have it play through a desktop on the speakers? - It would be nice if all the staff member has to do in the morning is turn on the device (radio or whatever) and then things are up and running. - But I wonder if each speaker then has to be switched on separately? - Can this be done via a timer? Do you have any ideas? Thanks for the help

What do you intend to do about the SONOS trade-up? I have a Play 5 that I bought in October 2017 for ~500.- that I can now trade in for 343.30 plus shipping instead of 499.00 (there is a generous 30%). According to SONOS, it will no longer function properly after May 2020 and will no longer be updated. The whole system would also no longer work properly if such components are in it, they write. I don't intend to buy anything else, but will replace everything in the future, I won't even put the stuff on the second-hand market, it's such crap. Any thoughts?

Am hoping someone can offer some advice or recommendations. Looking for a multi room music system. Ability to stream from Spotify, ability to stream from music stored in Dropbox. Ability to connect via SmartTV as well as Optical Cables. If there was some sort of interface (physical or app) that would allow searching through the available music, even better. Any ideas?

Dear Community I am looking for a system with the following possibility and need your swarm knowledge: 4 rooms, a small box in each of them. In addition, a "base station" (if that is needed at all), which connects the speakers wirelessly and is fed with sounds via a tablet (radio apps from the store, MP3s from the tablet's direct memory, perhaps a playlist via YouTube, etc.). I don't really need a subwoofer. That shouldn't be a problem so far... Now for the necessary user requirements: I would like to be able - without having to switch the speakers on and off every time - to combine the individual rooms randomly according to use. In other words (figuratively speaking): If I always move from the living room to the kitchen, these two boxes should play, the others not. If my partner were to yell "Hey, put on some music here!" from the study, I would want to be able to simply switch on the speaker in his room and deactivate it again. Ideally via an app on the tablet or mobile phone. Is that possible and if so, which system is best suited for this? Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Problem: - The sound systems I found with wireless speakers (e.g. https://www.digitec.ch/de/product/sony-undefined-home-cinema-system-2482123) each have a box to connect the rear speakers. However, I do not want any cabling if possible. I am looking for: Wireless speakers, at least 2 of 4. Hi Digitec! I'm writing in English so it's easier to get more people to understand, supposingly (Frecnh speaking myself!). I'm living in a 45m2 loft appartment and I have my desktop PC always turned on with music going... But it's at one end of the appartment, meaning I need to crank up the volume to barely hear anything when I'm cooking or shaving or anywhere away from my computer. I've seen a lot of multiroom systems but it always seems like they're made for smartphones or something. I just want to project my computer sound everywhere in the house, whether I'm playing music, YouTube videos and whatnot. What would you recommend? Is there anything especially suited for that kind of use? What's best? I'm a bit lost... ;) Thanks!

I am looking for a solution to equip a workshop with about 5-7 wireless speakers and then listen to the radio normally via DAB+. I want to have a local station that I turn on in the morning and turn off in the evening, and not have to stream via a computer or smartphone. Can anyone recommend a good value option?
