AP with WiFi 6 and Ethernet port with more than 1Gbit/s?

WiFi 6 and several Gbit/s with 5GHz is all well and good, but I can't do much with an RJ45 connection that can only do 1Gbit/s. I don't need devices that communicate with each other at 2Gbit/s, but I want to access the internet at 2Gbit/s or more. I don't need devices that communicate with each other at 2Gbit/s. I want to access the internet at 2Gbit/s or more ;-) Is there a good AP that won't directly put my bank account in the red? And please don't suggest Ubiquiti, none of their APs can do more than 1Gbit Ethernet.

    WLAN in the garden

Hello, a few years ago I built a good internal WLAN network at home with Ubiquiti UAP-LR3. Internally, I have some network holes in the cellar and in the hobby room, which I would like to close. Now I've also bought Eufy outdoor cameras and realised that I need a better Wi-Fi network in the garden. I would like to stay with Ubiquity, but I am overwhelmed by the variety of products. How can I solve my two problems? Thanks for your tips. Greetings

    Access point transmit/receive strength

Hello everyone Which Ubiquiti AP has the best receive and transmit performance? I am looking for a PoE AP for the basement (apartment block) (now have all Ubiquiti products). A LAN connection exists and is connected to a PoE switch. I would now like to have reception as far as possible. Which Ubiquiti AP has this feature? Thank you very much!

Access Point with WLAN on/off switch

I am looking for an access point that combines the following features: - The access point is connected to the network with a LAN cable. - Access point offers WLAN, which I can switch on/off with a switch. - Access point offers LAN cable slots for additional devices. Can you recommend a product that combines these features? It seems that there are no access points that allow you to switch the WLAN on/off using a switch. Thank you.

    "Access Point" category incomplete

Digitec urgently needs to make improvements here. A large number of devices do not appear in this category for access points, but under "WLAN repeaters". All devices that can function as both extenders and access points are listed there. The "Access Point" category, on the other hand, lacks numerous combination devices with an access point function.

    access point

Hello, I have access to the Internet via fibre optics (my router is on the ground floor) but I can't get it in the basement. I've had an RJ45 socket installed there (without a power supply) and would like to buy an access point so that I can use the same network in the basement. What type of access point would you recommend? I'm a bit lost with all these products. My internet provider made me buy a WIFI repeater, but it requires a power supply. I'd like an access point that doesn't need a power supply. Many thanks in advance for your feedback!

Wireless access point in the caravan.

Good evening A question from a layman: Could someone recommend a wireless acsess point (that's what they call them, right?) that connects with a normal network cable and is not too strong? It is only used in a Tiny House with 10 square meters area. Application: Maximum 2 people with the applications: Mail, Netflix, Youtube. Thanks :-) Michael

    UPC compatible access point?

Is there an access point for the common UPC Connect Box? Background: I would like to strengthen the WLAN on the first floor and use the existing Ethernet line from the ground floor to the first floor. A WLAN repeater would only be the 2nd best solution from my point of view. When I search here for an access point and then read the instructions for use, I am unsure whether this would also work. Who has experience and a good idea?

Netgear Orbi Mesh: how to expand?

I have a Netgear Orbi RBR50 with 3 satellites (2x RBS50 and 1x RBS50Y) and am satisfied with WLAN reception and speed. Only in the garage is the reception very poor (fire door). Now I'm wondering what my options are? Can I simply place a Mesh WLAN repeater in the garage? Is the weak reception enough or do I have to connect it to a LAN or PowerLine adapter? Which device would suit my Orbi Mesh? It would be ideal if I had the same WLAN in the garage as in the house. Can I expand my mesh at all, as I already have 3 satellites? Many thanks for your ideas!

Network extension to hobby room in neighbouring building

Hello all, I live in a block of flats, on the 2nd floor, and would now like to rent the hobby room in the neighbouring building on the ground floor in order to set up my home office there, whereby I also work on remote desktops every day, including with CAD models, so latency should not be too high. From the living room window, the signal path would first go 7m down, 20m to the side, then another 3m to the back, as the house wall on the ground floor is offset to the back, so the path through the flats above is covered. There is no possibility for an outdoor unit in the hobby room, in the flat it would be possible on the window sill outside. So clearly there is no line of sight from the living room window to the hobby room window. What is the best way to achieve about 50-100Mbit/s with low latency (the VPN can't do more anyway)? - Mobile router (close line of sight (300m) to the next mobile phone mast with 3G/4G/5G antennas (medium transmission power), but no possibility for an outdoor receiver). However, my LTE mobile phone (3-year-old) shows approx. 3 bars inside the window. But 5G inside the window is probably useless anyway. - Outdoor access points in my flat on the windowsill? - Wlan Bridge? Which ones are best suited for 25m "around the corner"? Would a pair of Ubiquiti NS locoM5 work? If I knew what would work, 200 would be no problem, but I'm afraid I'll have to go through half the range to find a good solution. I am curious about your ideas, thank you in advance. Kind regards Daniel

    WIFI expansion with AP

Hello together In my new flat, the idea is that I have to put the router in the réduit. Unfortunately, the walls are so heavily insulated that the WIFI signal from the sad Swisscom router barely reaches the back rooms. But I have several network sockets in each room. Now I would like to place an AP (Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC-PRO (1300 Mbit/s, 450 Mbit/s)) near the back rooms so that I also have a good signal strength there. Question: Can I use the AP as an extension to the existing WIFI of the Swisscom router or do I have to turn off the router's WIFI and buy a second AP to place where the Swisscom router is? The idea is that I have a single WIFI in the whole flat and the end devices automatically select the strongest one or switch between them (roaming). But I'm a bit reluctant to buy two of these not-so-cheap APs. Does anyone have any experience? PS: Repeaters are not an option for me. Greetings

    Which access point private

Which access point should I get privately for use with my mobile phone, tablet and notebook? WPA3 mandatory. 2.4ghz and 5ghz should be possible. Everything else currently runs via cable. 3 PlayStation 2 Raspberry Pi, 2 PCs, printer. Internet speed is 40 mb/s via cable. Network maintenance only internal. Internal fixed IP allocation would be nice if possible. GAST access would also be a nice ro have. I have looked at the Ubiquiti Access Point UniFi UAP-AC-LITE for CHF 86.00. However, I am still open to everything. Thank you already

    AP as DHCP server

Is there an AP that can also serve as a DHCP server? I have tried two APs and unfortunately they could not do this. A wifi router would work of course but I would like to use our POE...

    Mesh network

Hello all, must ask the professionals. I would like to set up a mesh network. We live in a 2-storey house plus basement. In the basement, the fibre optic cable goes to the modem and from there to the individual rooms via built-in LAN cables, which only offer 100 Mb. So 1 or 10GB is useless. I was thinking of using a mesh thingy from the modem, which is located in the basement (completely concrete walls and ceilings), then I would probably have to make one at the staircase because of the concrete and then one at the next staircase for the first floor. Yes, after the reception there would also be another one upstairs. What do you think? And which one would you recommend? I've always liked unifi, but there are so many different ones in different price ranges. I don't know that much about it. The aim is to have a good network throughout the house for gaming, streaming and surfing for 3 people at the same time. Or maybe just a G5 hotspot and a handi network? Thanks for your answers

Why do APs cost many times more than WiFi routers, which also include an AP?

If you deactivate certain functions (NAT, firewall, ...) on a WiFi router, you can use it as an AP. Why are these multifunction devices much cheaper than a dedicated AP with only a fraction of the functions of a WiFi router?

Which Ubiquiti Access Point can do this?

Hello together I have an AP AC PRO in my house on the ground floor that "sends upwards" and another AP AC PRO that is mounted on the ceiling on the second floor and sends downwards to cover my half of the house with the WIFI signal. Now I want to cover the other half of the house with my WIFI signal, but I only have a LAN connection to the first floor (where there is a computer). Is there an access point from Ubiquiti that can transmit "all around" to cover the ground floor and the 2nd floor of the other half of the house? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? Unfortunately, it is not possible to lay more cables.... Thanks for your help Greetings

Is Asus AiMesh also available for access points or repeaters?

Can I also use the new Asus AiMesh function for uninterrupted WLAN with Asus access points or repeaters such as ASUS RP-AC68U? Or does it only work with Asus routers? I find the current Asus routers quite ugly and futuristic and all the other mesh products look like some kind of designer pieces. I'm more a fan of simple shapes and edges like the RP-AC68U or the EA-AC87... Has anyone had any experience with the Tenda nova MW6 Home Mesh WiFi System?

Salt Fiber Box - Electrical cabinet unusable WLAN requirements

My OttoBox is in the electrical cabinet and this is behind a wooden door and surrounded on three sides by brickwork / concrete. This is a very poor prerequisite for WLAN. What is the best way to solve the problem with the WLAN? - Instead of the Salt Fiber Box, use a fibre-optic router without WLAN and bring the signal via LAN cable into a WLAN-friendly room? - Connect a suitable router downstream to the Salt Box via LAN? - Connect an access point downstream to the Salt Box via LAN? What is the best solution?

1 wifi network and not 3 different ones

We have 3 different routers at home so far and therefore 3 wifi networks. However, the problem is that when you come into the house and connect to one of them, the connection practically always stays there, even though the 2nd or 3rd network would be better at this point. Which "complete" product would be suitable to cover the whole house with wifi?

WLAN up to the opposite building (approx. 150m away, free view, a wall in between)

Dear Community. May I ask for your help with the following project? I have rented a hobby room in the building opposite. The hobby room is about 150m. away and there is an unobstructed view from the flat balcony and a wall to overcome from the balcony. How do I get my Wi-Fi signal up to this hobby room? I have Salt Fiber at home. Thanks in advance. Greetings

    Access Point, Repeater or Mesh?

Hello together, I live in the basement of a large house. On the first floor is the office with the router and the LAN switches for the various workstations. Since the Wi-Fi connection does not reach my room, or only reaches it poorly, I pulled a LAN cable from the outside wall into my room some time ago. My gaming console is now connected to this cable, so far so good. Now I'm looking for a device solution that allows me to expand the existing or a new Wi-Fi network in my room and also to connect my console directly via LAN again, if possible, as this is usually much faster for online games via LAN than via Wi-Fi. I have now looked around a bit, but I am undecided as to which device is most likely to meet my needs? Thanks for your help!

    Access point directly to DSL?

AccessPoint / Router from mobile phone

Hello everyone, is there actually a device that I can set up a hotspot with my mobile phone so that it is then available as a WLAN for other devices such as a printer and laptop? The question arises because I would like to have both the printer and the laptop on the network at the same time. At the moment I can only connect the laptop to either the hotspot OR the printer. Thank you for your feedback.

A device with which you can connect to Lan and establish a wifi connection.

Hi, I would like to find a device that can connect to wifi via lan. I bought the NetGear Ex2700, but it was a big mistake. At first I thought I could connect the device with a LAN and then set up a wifi connection in my cellar. In my basement it has no reception from outside but has cables to the basement. Is there a device that is designed to connect to a LAN and thus establish a wifi connection? I would be happy if someone could answer this question for me. Have a nice day and kind regards.

Search for device for WLAN and Ethernet in the upper floor

Hello all. I would like to have internet on the 1st floor via cable and WLAN. Currently the router is on the ground floor and sends the internet via Powerline, but we always have interruptions. My thought now is to pull an Ethernet cable from the Swisscom router on the ground floor to the first floor. What kind of device (and what is it called? Repeater?) can you recommend so that I have cable and WLAN connection afterwards? The current subscription is the Vivo S with 40 Mbit/s max. download 8 Mbit/s max. upload (Swisscom). Many thanks for your help
