What's the first thing you think of when you think of Kord? For me, it's my maths teacher. He always wore his beige 0815 corduroy trousers, which were totally worn out from being worn so often. He paired them with a checked shirt and trekking sandals. Who would have thought that he would one day become a trendsetter - assuming he still wears the trousers today! Because the latest collections are full of garments made from Manchester corduroy. In terms of feel, the material is reminiscent of velvet, which is known for its slit longitudinal ribs. The highlight: the fabric is not only warm, but also dirt-resistant and hard-wearing compared to other textiles.
I thought for a long time that I wore my very first corduroy item at the age of 16. Back then, denim jackets with a Manchester lining were hip. When I recently looked through my photo album again, I was proved wrong: I was already wearing corduroy (dungarees) in the sandpit. Practice makes perfect. That's probably why I acquired a taste for it again - a kind of early childhood fashion imprint 😉. I'm particularly fond of trousers and blazers from Manchester. I combine the latter with jeans and short ankle boots. For the corduroy trousers, on the other hand, I opt for a colour-coordinated oversized chunky knit jumper and trainers.
Fun fact: On the very day I decided to write about this trend, my two editorial colleagues Natalie Hemengül and Carolin Teufelberger happened to be wearing a piece of corduroy. That's why their jacket and dress had to be used for a snapshot straight away. [[image:17844433]]Our colleague Carolin also relies on corduroy on cool days
