"Suddenly I thought: I want that too!"
by Roxana Fröhlich
Roxy works at Galaxus and is a bikini athlete. Originally, she just wanted to eat healthily. In the fourth part of her report, Roxy takes to the stage and talks about the competition.
The competition actually began a week earlier: the "peak week". During this week, we unloaded and loaded. What does that mean? It's about losing excess water and then preparing for a nice, plump shape. In my case, that meant eating 1.5kg of ice cream. And that one or two days before the competition. Are you shaking your head? It was awesome! I sat down on the couch with Ben & Jerry's, had just completed my last pussy workout and enjoyed the whole thing while watching a good film. The next day I was in beautiful shape: fuelled and pumped full of short-chain carbohydrates, I no longer looked so thin. My muscles were in great shape. I could definitely be seen!
Now it was time to get down to business. Arrive at the competition venue, get my make-up & styled, eat a few rice cakes, apply my tan and wait. Waiting for your turn to finally be allowed on the eagerly awaited stage. After the styling, I really... looked like a real Barbie Teresa:
Hair extensions, a tonne of stage make-up and false eyelashes. I thought it was awesome 😘 My friend got to paint me with a brownish liquid and a paint roller. The colour is used to highlight the muscles on the brightly lit stage with shadows. A light tan colour also makes you look more beautiful and attractive. Backstage, I chatted to my friends, my boyfriend was always by my side as a loyal companion and I had a book and my iPhone with me to distract me. I wasn't nervous at first, I was really excited and couldn't wait to storm the stage. We had a nice atmosphere backstage as my coach's athletes had rented their own room. I have fond memories of that day, even though it was over two years ago.
I don't know how to describe the feeling when the time finally came. Just before my performance backstage, I was full of adrenaline. I was nervous, wobbly on my feet and hoped I wouldn't fall or do anything embarrassing. But the opposite was the case. When the music started, I strutted confidently onto the stage, did the poses and showed off my hard-earned body. My coach had often fondly referred to me as a "ramp sow", as I had a great presence and self-confidence on stage. At my very first competition, I somehow felt that I was able to attract some attention and win over a few jury members. I was called into a few comparisons, which is actually a good sign.
I unexpectedly made it into the top 6 in the final, what a feeling! Finals?! I'm a modest person and not pessimistic, rather realistic. I would never have dreamed of this. I stood there on the stage with one of my best friends, who had also made it to the final, and I was beaming like a honey cake horse.
All the finalists wore glittering bikinis and were beaming. A difficult task for a jury. After all, it's not about a score or performance, but about the appearance and charisma of several beautiful women. This also makes self-assessment more difficult. It was going to take several hours before we could continue. I found the wait difficult. But no matter, I was in the final!
Finally, the show went on and each finalist was allowed to present their posing. To cut a long story short: I came fourth. In my very first competition. The feeling was indescribable. It was great to know that you had made it. That you had achieved what you had hoped for and, above all, worked hard for! The training had definitely paid off. The pizza afterwards was a culinary delight. Nothing describes it better. I enjoyed the evening with my friends to the full.
I was really proud of myself for even making it to the final. But that meant even more work, as the Swiss Championships were due to take place two weeks later. My goal was clear: top 3. During those two weeks, I had an internal battle with myself. I put enormous pressure on myself. I had to become even better, even more defined, more perfect. My posing had to improve and my performance had to become more confident. A lot of work for a fortnight.
On the day of the Swiss Championships, I felt more confident as I was able to get even more out of my body. The posing was even better and my first competition experience also helped me. I knew how it went and what my task was. Nevertheless, the pressure to do better than last time was very present. I wanted and needed to shine even more and win over the judges.
As the final approached, I was so nervous! But I knew that my coach, his wife, my boyfriend, my sisters and even more friends were sitting in the audience and cheering me on. They believed in me! Like at the last performance, my girlfriend was by my side. I didn't feel completely alone on that big stage.
When the fourth place was called, I was anxious: "please not my name, please not my name! " Luckily, it wasn't my name. I was in the top 3! Goal achieved, I didn't really care about anything else. What I only found out later was that the top 3 automatically qualify for the international competitions. With third place at the 2013 Swiss Championships, I went out to celebrate with friends and family. Tired and exhausted, but infinitely happy - what a feeling!
