How to compose lighting scenes
Imagine that light is a song that you compose. To make it as harmonious and atmospheric as possible, it needs different and above all gentle tones.
Rooms radiate cosiness not only thanks to furniture, but also through balanced lighting conditions. The latter is achieved with luminaires with a wide palette, ranging from a lively beam to a soft golden shimmer. You can enhance the effect with a few styling tricks.
1. illuminate evenly
Use different light sources that allow light shadows to be cast. To make a room look particularly pleasant, it should be bathed in a kind of twilight. You can achieve this by avoiding switching on pendant lights. These are often too bright and only provide light at certain points. A combination of floor, table, wall and floor lamps at different heights illuminates the room homogeneously. In addition to luminaires, candles, open fires or fairy lights can also be used to create a soft lighting mood.

2. make sure that nothing dazzles
Choose dimmable light sources that disappear behind the lampshade or can be concealed: Lamps that have a swivelling shade can be aligned with the wall, for example. You are particularly flexible if you opt for smart lighting systems where you can control the brightness.

3. choose warm colours
Whether dimmable or not, every light source should be warm white to create a pleasant atmosphere. The higher the Kelvin number, the bluer the light. Therefore, choose a model that is between 2700 and 3000 Kelvin. Lamps with a visible filament light source are also an option, provided they have a warm light colour. Coloured walls can also enhance the effect. Paint them in warm colours such as sand or Bordeaux to create an all-round cosy atmosphere.
