Compeed Anti bubbles stick
Foot cream & foot gel, 8 ml
I’ve tried thousands of things for rubbing shoes – most of them didn’t help. Yet, this little stick from Compeed has blown me away.
Summer, sun, sandals – sounds wonderful, but sometimes feels like torture. Anyone who has ever walked to brunch in summer shoes and then had blisters comparable to those of an Ironman athlete will know what I’m talking about.
Even shoes that seem comfortable when you try them on can turn out to be torturous in everyday life. And in summer it’s even worse. We rarely wear socks that protect our skin from rubbing. Instead, we wear shoes like strappy sandals and pumps, which tend to chafe.
The bad news is, plasters are of little help here. The good news is that while I still have sore feet because the first few anti-blister products failed miserably, you can reach for the tried and tested miracle weapon: the Compeed Anti Blister Stick.
I’ve actually known for years that this stick existed. But I never thought it’d work that well against blisters and chafing. Instead, I preventatively taped my feet with blister plasters, tried to protect them with pressure point plasters and even misused products like Nexcare’s Active Tape or the Hydrofilm from Hartmann.
All this to find THE solution to blistering and chafing. The problem with all these things you stick to your skin: if your shoes rub badly and your feet sweat in the summer heat, they come off in the blink of an eye.
Desperate, I gave the Compeed Anti Blister stick a chance after all – and was totally surprised. It’s really straightforward: you apply the balm to the areas where the shoe rubs. The stick glides smoothly over the skin and leaves a light protective film – creamy and slightly slippery, but not unpleasantly oily. It doesn’t change the fit of your shoe, only chafing is reduced.
I tested the Compeed stick with shoes that have been sitting on my shelf unworn for almost two years because I get terrible blisters every time I wear them. It actually did the trick and saved me. My feet were gliding in my shoes like a freshly oiled door that finally stopped creaking. I took parcels to the post office, ran to the DIY store and then to two supermarkets – without getting any blisters.
Thankfully, unlike plasters, the balm can’t come off or slip down. What’s more, it’s invisible, you can apply it in an instant and it’s super easy to use. Areas where plasters would otherwise be tricky to reach (such as the little toe) can be easily treated with the stick.
Some people online also recommend Vaseline or creamy deodorant sticks as a cheap alternative. Personally, I prefer a product designed for this purpose – and the Compeed stick really isn’t expensive. It’s also very compact and can be easily stored in your bag then reapplied when you’re out if necessary.
Bear in mind, however, that the anti-blister stick can’t help with pressure sores caused by shoes that are too tight. As advertised, it only reduces chafing – and does so really well. I’m over the moon and can’t believe I didn’t give the product a chance sooner. I could’ve saved myself loads of blisters.
