Fitness pills and powders: supplements and sports nutrition products are booming
by Alex Hämmerli

For the first time ever, vitamins and nutritional supplements have made it onto Galaxus’s top 10 bestsellers list. The only products the online retailer sold more of in 2025 were disposable and rechargeable batteries, USB charging cables, Lego sets and mobile phone cases.
Galaxus’s vitamin and nutritional supplement business is booming, with the online retailer selling 75 per cent more pills and powders in 2025 than it did the previous year. As a result of the sector’s considerable growth, D3, creatine and omega-3 supplements rocketed to fifth place on Galaxus’s list of best-selling products.
The company’s product experts have chalked this up to society’s increased interest in fitness and health, influencer-driven trends, self-tracking devices and new ways to follow a vegan diet. Martina Tatavitto, Senior Category Business Manager at Galaxus, says: «We’re keeping pace with this boom by expanding our product range and focusing on the most popular trends.»
Market researchers anticipate that global demand for these products will continue to rise. According to a report by Grand View Research, the nutritional supplement market is set to grow from USD 193 billion in 2024 to USD 415 billion in 2033.
As has been the case in previous years, single-use and rechargeable batteries are the best-selling products on Galaxus. They’re a classic example of a repeat purchase – once they’ve been used up, they’re convenient to reorder online, take up very little storage space and can be delivered by mail without any issues. With all these factors stacked in their favour, it’s difficult to imagine which product type could be capable of knocking batteries off the top spot.
At the moment, USB cables seem to have the best odds. Currently ranked second on the bestseller list, sales are showing no signs of slowing down. After all, changes in the electronics industry mean more and more devices are being charged via USB cables (linked article in German). The standard’s becoming increasingly widespread – so much so that even traditional AA/AAA rechargeable batteries (yep, you read that right) can now be charged via USB cable.

For the first time ever, Lego has moved up to third place on the bestseller list. Just one of many potential explanations for this is that the building blocks no longer appeal to just kids. In fact, the number of Galaxus customers under the age of 35 who buy Lego has more than doubled since 2019, reaching 24 per cent today. Women are also buying Lego sets significantly more often than they did a few years ago, currently accounting for 50 per cent of sales.
