Hornbach is the latest addition to Galaxus’s marketplace
Yippie ya ya, yippie, yippie, yeah! Galaxus is adding DIY store Hornbach to its marketplace. The online retailer is responding to the ongoing home improvement boom in Switzerland. Sales of DIY and gardening products at Galaxus have nearly quadrupled over the past five years.
Galaxus is doubling down on its claim of having pretty much everything and expanding its product range with items from DIY and gardening giant Hornbach. Darius Affolter, the man in charge of onboarding the new retailer is happy: «Home improvement is very popular in Switzerland. Our customers can now look forward to an even broader selection.»
Hornbach is launching a range of around 200 own-brand plumbing products on Galaxus, including taps, sinks and shower systems. This is no surprise; over the past five year, Galaxus has recorded a sixfold increase in sales of plumbing supplies.
More product categories are set to follow: «Take our paint selection, which is still fairly small. Hornbach definitely has what it takes to make it more colourful,» Darius points out. All Hornbach products are safely packaged and conveniently delivered right to customers’ doorsteps, which means heavy lifting is a thing of the past.
Which particular products will be added is currently being determined by Hornbach and Galaxus, who are analysing customer needs and the existing product range in the online shop. Alban Bislimi, Head of e-commerce at Hornbach says: «By joining forces with Galaxus, we’re reaching people who may never have been to a Hornbach store before and can show them what our products are made of.»
