Salone del Mobile: the best of our first day in Milan
Over the next three days, my fellow photographer Thomas Kunz and I will be out and about in Milan. We start by visiting the 'Lambrate Design Dirstrict'. It is a space that offers young talents the opportunity to exhibit their work
I usually see things that really fascinate me maybe once a day. If I'm lucky! But during the Furniture Week it's different. Here I am confronted with so many projects, one more extraordinary than the other. My perception almost has a hard time following and recording everything. It's a good thing that Thomas and I take a break from time to time. That way I have time to rethink everything I have seen and become aware of the trends that are emerging.
Visions for the office of the future
What should our workplaces look like in the future? The magazine Elle Decor Italia answers this question with the exhibition 'Evolution of Workspaces' at Palazzo Bovara. Digital devices on display in ten different rooms give visitors interactive and olfactory experiences.
.

In every room you feel the same emotion: this is the office of my dreams. The smell is pleasant, the colours in perfect harmony and the combination of furniture is so cosy that it almost feels like a room in a private home.

Savoir-faire
Since its foundation in 2012, the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades collection has collaborated with internationally renowned designers and invited them to create innovative furniture and objects. Thanks to the savoir-faire of this leading luxury goods manufacturer, the objects are masterfully presented every year.

The new 'Trash to Treasure'
style wave
In Lambrate, the dominant thinking of young designers revolves around the theme of sustainability. Design studios such as Trash2Treasure offer visitors the opportunity to participate in up-cycling workshops. In addition, the studio presents products made from recycled materials. For example, they reuse expired nail polish bottles to create new furniture and accessories. Other designers demonstrate that even food scraps or waste produced during marble processing can be recycled.
