Scandi fashion makes my heart beat faster. Especially when it comes from the dreamy creative mind of Cecilie Bahnsen. With her two latest collaborations, the Danish designer hit two of my soft spots – Scandi style and streetwear. It’s high time the world gets to know her – and high time her fashion’s included in our range.

Delicate floral appliqués, cloudy puff sleeves, curved scalloped hems, voluminously draped peplums – Cecilie Bahnsen’s designs are bursting with femininity. Functional accessories such as trekking sandals and running shoes create a clash in style. Or a harmonious addition? After all, who said romantic aesthetics and practical minimalism don’t go hand in hand? Well, definitely not Cecilie Bahnsen.

Born close to Denmark’s creative hotspot Copenhagen, young Cecilie was inspired by her grandmother from an early age. Together, they did a lot of sewing, embroidery and drawing. A school internship with her mother, a seamstress, later and Cecilie Bahnsen’s career aspirations were set in stone. She wanted to become a fashion designer. Cecilie studied at the Danish Design School, where she met Danish designer Anja Vang Krag and worked as her assistant. She also designed opera costumes for the Royal Danish Theatre and worked on freelance projects for Christian Dior. After graduating in 2007, she landed an internship at John Galliano, who then hired her as a print designer. After completing her Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art in London in 2010, she joined the London fashion house Erdem as a design assistant.

Keeping up? Then take a deep breath, as things are bout to get even more exciting. In 2015, Cecilie returned to her home country, founded her own label, staged her collections at the fashion weeks in Copenhagen and Paris and was nominated for the prestigious LVMH Prize. What’s more, and that’s how she really won me over, Cecilie Bahnsen proved to have great intuition when it comes to collaborations.

Cecilie Bahnsen × Asics

This collaboration’s all about the aforementioned running shoes, in which her fabulously dressed models strut confidently down the catwalk. She always gets them from the Japanese sneaker brand Asics. And because this contrasting combination’s a match made in heaven, Bahnsen and Asics have launched several sneaker collabs.

Cecilie Bahnsen × The North Face

Cecilie Bahnsen’s latest collaboration’s just as ingenious. For her spring/summer 25 collection, the Danish designer teamed up with the outdoor professionals from US brand The North Face. Combining transparent fabrics, delicate flowers and glitter appliqués with functional duffle bags, rain jackets and Bermuda shorts, they proved that opposites really do attract us.

Are you in love with the dreamy world of Cecilie Bahnsen as much as I am? Join the club! If we keep our fingers crossed together, Cecilie Bahnsen’s collection might become available on Galaxus one day. So far, there are no such plans I’m afraid. Until then, how about these Bahnsen lookalikes?
