Hooked on these organisers: wall bars at your service
by Pia Seidel
Ever wondered what interior designers do to make rooms look nicer? They pay attention to pretty much every detail. And you can, too. I’ll show you how.
Think of interior design as a composition that gently seduces you and your gaze. Take books, for example. For some, they’re just for brief enjoyment and disappear right after. But for collectors, books are an integral part of home design. There, you’ll find them on a shelf or loosely stacked somewhere. When it comes to the latter, interior designers see more than a pile of books. Instead, it’s a podium that becomes a feast for the eyes with the help of deliberate presentation.
The styling team at furniture manufacturer Ferm Living adds a home accessory or sculpture to every stack of books.
The cover of the top book can be neutral, but it doesn’t have to be. Only the ornament on top of the books should attract your guests’ attention. You can also combine several objects – be it a vase or souvenir. Use whatever appeals to you. The only thing you want to bear in mind is proportions. It’s best to choose an eye-catcher with a diameter smaller than that of the topmost book’s cover.
Like a cheerleader, I love celebrating good design and bringing you closer to everything furniture- and interior design- related. I regularly curate simple yet sophisticated interior ideas, report on trends and interview creative minds about their work.
