Looking for the good stuff: carpets for every occasion
Carpets are used to add the finishing touch to a room. Finding the right one can be difficult. That's why we're here to help with tips and tricks. Room by room, we show you which format is generally best suited.
A carpet, which is supposed to give a room a little something extra, also enhances the floor. That's why it shouldn't cover more than half the room. In this way, it highlights the corners that you like. A rug can also be very useful if you want to divide a room into several areas - it optically separates the different zones.
The living room

Rugs here act as a frame for your seating area. This often consists of a sofa, coffee table and armchairs. If the room is large, to make the most of your rug (300 x 400 cm), make sure it has enough space to the left and right of your seating area and that it protrudes a little. On the other hand, if the room is small, it's advisable to highlight only certain parts of the lounge area. A rug (140 x 200 cm) placed under the armchair or coffee table can be a real eye-catcher. Or, if there's enough space around it, you can place it in front of the sofa.
The bedroom

Rugs are ideal placed where you should feel most at home: around your bed. They bring warmth and comfort. Here, too, there are many ways to arrange the soft rugs or skins: placed directly under the bed, you're sure to get up on the right foot in the morning. They give you a gentle start to the day. In small rooms, rugs are perfect as bedside rugs: they don't need to surround the bed, just enhance it. The larger the room, the better it is to have the bed and bedside tables on the rug (190 x 290 cm). If you only want a rug to decorate the room, you can opt for a model the same width as the bed.
The dining room

In contrast to bedroom rugs, those found in dining rooms have shorter pile. They look very stylish placed under the table and chairs. Their size should be chosen according to the size of the table - not forgetting that the chairs must also have enough space. Because when you get up at the end of a meal and move the chair back, if they're too close, the edges of the mat can get in the way. If your table seats 6 people, for example, you should opt for a mat measuring 160 x 230 cm or 200 x 290 cm. The shape of the rug should also be in harmony with the table. Having a rug in the dining room is both a decorative issue and a smart decision: the floor is protected from scratches made when chairs are moved.
The kitchen, reading area and hallway

Vinyl mats are kitchen accessories that give the floor a warm accent as well as being practical. They are washable, dimensionally stable and very thin. A rug under your feet will also do you good in a cosy reading corner. As an armchair and side table don't take up much space, the rug can be small and thin. Organic shapes and original patterns transform the corner into a real focal point of the room.
For long hallways, choosing a hallway rug is well worth it - it becomes a real eye-catcher next to the wardrobe. It accompanies you into every room and is pleasantly soft underfoot. If the room is more square, opt for a round or square rug.
All roads lead to Rome
To choose the right rug for your home, all you need to do is ask yourself the right questions. There are, of course, other ways in which your rug will stand out and other individual situations where you should consider other criteria. So your questions are welcome in the comments section below.
