Laura's Likes: "Sun and concrete" and 7 pieces for a fashionable déjà vu
Technically, we've moved on a bit, but as far as the looks are concerned, Felix Lobrecht's film could easily be set in the here and now.
Berlin, 2003 - a record summer. The sun is blazing, the tarmac is glowing, problems are boiling over. At least in the world of Lukas, Julius, Gino and Sanchez. The four teenagers live in the problem neighbourhood of Gropiusstadt in Neukölln, have neither money nor prospects and really only want one thing: to leave. And at any price.
The film "Sun and Concrete" by David Wnendt and Felix Lobrecht is the moving and moving adaptation of the book of the same name by the latter - and has been in cinemas since 2 March. I've seen it and think you should definitely join me. Because of the story anyway, but also because of the wonderfully warm wave of nostalgia (despite the heavy topics) that washes over you at the sight of Nokia mobiles and ghetto blasters.
I also walked out of the cinema with the realisation that most of the status symbols of the guys from back then are still cool today, exactly 20 years later. From fanny packs to Reebok trainers - with a few technical updates, the "sun and concrete" look can easily be recreated in 2023.
