Laura’s Likes: 7 perfect pieces for the Year of the Snake
We’d just finished dressing from head to toe in leopard print when the next animal already began snaking its way to the trend front. The animal of 2025 is inspired by Chinese astrology.
While some parts of the world have long since rung in the new year, the turn of the year according to the traditional Chinese calendar has only just begun. The key date is always the second new moon after the winter solstice, which this year falls on 29 January. Then it officially begins: the Year of the Snake.
Unlike what you might associate snakes with generally, this isn’t a sign of resentment, deviousness and lies. No, in Chinese astrology, snakes are considered above all to be wise, astute, creative, sensitive and mysterious. It’s because of their array of positive characteristics – and of course not least their beautiful patterns – that various brands are launching snake-inspired collections to the market in 2025.
