Ladybird jewellery - spicy?
Hard to believe, but true: influencers are celebrating ladybird jewellery on Instagram. The childish-looking pieces of jewellery are the new non plus ultra.
I had to look twice when I noticed while scrolling through Instagram that two of my favourite bloggers were independently posing with ladybird jewellery. One as an earring and the other as a necklace - yes, you read that right. I was amazed because, for me, the two influencers are the epitome of coolness in repeller style. And don't correspond to my image of a typical girly girl who favours playful, romantic accents like ladybirds in her outfit.
I'm not alone in thinking this: every time I tell someone about the oh-so-trendy ladybirds, the person I'm talking to stares at me in disbelief and laughs. "Surely not" is almost always the response. I then have to laugh myself, as I was thinking the same thing while scrolling.
Point landing
Since I read Franz Kafka's work "The Metamorphosis" about Gregor Samsa, who turns into an oversized beetle overnight, at school, I have loathed creepy-crawlies of any kind. That's why it would never have occurred to me to buy a beetle in the form of jewellery. Even though insect details on necklaces and other jewellery have been very trendy in recent years. So why am I still tempted to jump on the bandwagon? Probably because when it comes to creepy-crawlies, ladybirds are my favourite.
While taking a closer look at Ilenia and Alessa's styling, I realised that the secret to their looks lies in the fact that they only combine precious items with simple classics. This could be a beige trench coat or a simple, white oversized blouse. This way, you can turn a supposedly trashy piece into a pretty eye-catcher.
