Juicers, fryers, capsule machines – Switzerland’s favourite kitchen gadgets in 2023
People in Switzerland like to equip their kitchen with handy gadgets. In 2023, customers of online retailer Digitec Galaxus bought 45% more deep fryers and 33% more juicers than in the previous year. More than one in three people in Switzerland use a capsule machine to make a cup of coffee.
The Corona years saw a huge rise in kitchen aids in Switzerland, as amateur chefs equipped their kitchens with a wide variety of gadgets and appliances. And many have continued to cook at home even after the pandemic. This is reflected in the Digitec Galaxus sales figures.
However, which kitchen gadgets are most popular is constantly changing. Which ones were most sought after in 2023?
Capsule coffee with a foamed milk finish
Let’s start in the morning. Switzerland is one of the countries in the world with the highest coffee consumption per capita (link in German). This also means people in Switzerland need a lot of coffee-making equipment. Indeed, sales figures on our online shops grow every year.
At Digitec Galaxus, more than every third coffee-making device that’s sold is a capsule machine – followed by moka pots, which are roughly half as popular.

Fried and liquid food
Fryers have been popular for quite some time. Following strong growth in 2022, sales figures at Digitec Galaxus have again risen by almost 50% this year. The bestseller is currently a classic deep fryer with oil bath, followed by several hot air fryers.
Liquid foods, juices and smoothies are often healthy and easy to prepare – if you have the right equipment. People in Switzerland definitely do. Sales figures of juicers (+32%) and blenders (+20%) are on the rise.
Meal prep seems to be popular in 2023, too, with storage containers such as Tupperware and preserving jars having sold about three times more often than in the previous year.
And of course, we have to mention this kitchen essential – good pots and pans. In 2023, Digitec Galaxus customers bought significantly more pots and pans than in the previous year.
