Honoured: These are the "Red Dot" winners 2017
Products that shine with their appearance and quality deserve a special award. That is why the Design Zentrum NRW, with the help of an independent jury, honours the best product designs every year with a "Red Dot" - a red dot that has established itself internationally as one of the most coveted seals of quality for good design. A few winners from the living area can even be found in our shop.
The following criteria are of central importance for the award ceremony:
- Degree of innovation: How new is the concept behind the product .- Functionality: How handy, easy to clean and safe is the object?
- Formal quality: How does the form compare to the function?
- Ergonomics: Is the product adapted to the physical conditions of the user?
- Durability: How solid are the material and design?
- Emotional content: What else does the product offer besides function?
- Product peripherals: How well is the product integrated within a system or environment?
- Quality of self-explanation: Do you understand the product and how to use it even without an instruction manual?
- Ecological compatibility: Is the manufacturing effort justified for the purpose of the product?

Tojo
The minimalist bed from Tojo impressed the jury above all with its clever design: You don't need screws or tools, you simply put it together. The width can be varied as required and thus easily adapted to the needs of its owner. To the "Red Dot" award

Cartel
Katell won three prizes at the awards. One of them for the "Piuma" chair designed by Piero Lissoni. This chair scored with its innovative design and particularly robust material: at just 2.4kg, the chair is lightweight, yet extremely hard-wearing and can even withstand the whims of nature. The jury was so impressed by its robustness and beauty of form that "Piuma" received the additional "Best of the Best" award. The "Planet" lighting line with its faceted surface creates playful light reflections in the room and thus wins a "Red Dot". The Multiplo table bears its name well: both the table top and the base frame are available in different shapes, materials and colours, creating many possible combinations. Like the Piuma chair, it can be used both indoors and outdoors. It is therefore hardly surprising that this line also scored highly with the jury.

Nordlux
The Danish brand Nordlux has received a red dot for not one, but four products. These include three sophisticated lights that are also included in our range. According to the jury, "Strap" with its mix of materials (leather and metal) "blends harmoniously into contemporary interiors", while "Artist" impresses above all with its soft contours and "balanced proportions". The bulbous, dimmable lamp "Dee Glas" also impressed the judges: here, contemporary functionality meets sculptural elegance. To the "Red Dot" awards
Philips
Yes, lamps can also be honoured with a "Red Dot" award. The LED lamp series, which can be controlled using a mobile phone or the switch provided, impressed with its design language and energy efficiency. To the "Red Dot" award
