Healthy snack for your child

A healthy snack cheers up tired children and gives them new energy. With the right nutrients, concentration and performance are maintained even after a long morning. Find out how to put together a healthy snack here.
The child leaves with their school bag in the morning. You don't see them again until lunchtime. What happens in the meantime? The little rascals run around and cram. A well-balanced snack during the big break provides enough energy. But what really belongs in the snack box?
This belongs in the lunchbox
Grab fresh fruit and vegetables when putting together the snack. An apple or other seasonal fruit offers many important ingredients such as vitamins and minerals for a healthy metabolism. Be careful with fruit juice, dried fruit and bananas. The concentrated sugar in these products is harmful to tooth enamel. Of course, you don't have to avoid them completely. Every now and then something like this is allowed.
Of course, you can also supplement your snack with unsweetened dairy products. A small carton of milk or natural yoghurt with home-cut fruit is suitable here.
If your child doesn't eat breakfast in the morning, they will be even hungrier during the break. Here you can reach for healthy cereal products. Wholemeal crackers, bread rolls, smoked bread, crispbread or rice cakes are suitable for this. Of course, you can also prepare a wholemeal sandwich with cheese or pack unsalted nuts with it.
Sweets should not end up in the lunchbox - at least that is the recommendation. Of course, if a small piece of chocolate ends up in the box, it's not the end of the world. Anything goes as long as it's not every day and is within reason.

Think about hydration
Sweet drinks do not belong in a child's bottle. It is best to fill your child's bottle with unsweetened tea or simply mineral or tap water
.
Let your creativity run wild with the design
The eye eats with you! If you want to offer your child something special, you can play with the food for a change. Why not shape the sandwich into a star with a cookie cutter? Or fill the sandwich with heart-shaped cheese slices? So that the slices don't go to waste, you can always keep them for yourself or use them when cooking, for example. Nibbling from a skewer can also be fun. Skewer vegetables, fruit and cheese onto a wooden stick and your snack is ready.
