Galaxus launches new home internet package
by Manuel Wenk
Galaxus has expanded its range of internet services to include two plans for households without a fibre-optic connection. This means Galaxus Internet is now available to the majority of homes in Switzerland. You get 1 Gbit/s of bandwidth for 34 francs or 200 Mbit/s for 27 francs – and there’s no minimum contract term.
Galaxus has now launched its full range of internet plans, making its services available to households without a fibre-optic connection. Andreas Kundert, Head of Galaxus Mobile, Internet and TV, is delighted with the move: «Now that we’ve expanded our range of services, many more people in Switzerland can now make use of our fast, attractively priced internet packages.»
Here are the three plans available:
The two new plans will deliver internet to homes via the cable network. The technical term for this is Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC), a technology that will now allow most Swiss households to access Galaxus Internet services. In contrast, only about 40 per cent of the Swiss population currently have access to the fibre-optic network.
All of our plans are subject to a one-off activation fee of 79 francs. This includes a router from Zyxel (fibre) or Sagecom (HFC), which you’ll receive by post before activation.
As is already the case with other Galaxus Internet and Galaxus Mobile packages, customers can save money on their plans by signing up for our Family + Friends option. Doing so reduces your monthly bill by one franc per new Family member for a maximum of five people – i.e. by a total of four francs. That means you could get 1 Gbit/s for 30 francs per month or 200Mbit/s for 23 francs per month.
Andreas explains: «Everything works perfectly with a 1 Gbit/s connection. This includes 4K streaming in your living room, video calls in your home office and online gaming in your kids’ bedrooms – even if it’s all happening at once.»
The 200 Mbit/s connection is a decent basis for everyday uses such as visiting websites, streaming and working from home. «However, if you’re going to be using your connection heavily or accessing it via multiple devices at once, we’d recommend the 1 Gbit/s option. It has a higher bandwidth, so it’s better placed to accommodate peak loads,» Andreas says.
Galaxus Internet contracts have no minimum term and if you cancel, the termination takes effect from the end of the following month. Simple, with no fuss.
What do you think of Galaxus’s new internet plans? Do you already have one? Or are you on the verge of making the switch to Galaxus Internet? We’re looking forward to reading your comments.
