Galaxus launches new home internet package
A brand-new internet service has just hit Switzerland: Galaxus Internet. Priced at CHF 39 per month, the ultra-fast, 10 Gbit/s fibre-optic connection comes with no minimum contract term and maximum flexibility.
Galaxus has added internet plans to its range of services. Following the example of Galaxus Mobile, Switzerland’s leading online retailer has kept Galaxus Internet simple. Rather than unnecessary gimmicks, customers benefit from low prices and a straightforward registration process. The high-speed internet runs on Sunrise’s fibre-optic infrastructure.
Customers sign up for the service through an uncomplicated, fully digital process. It only takes a few minutes to register. As well as offering fast upload and download speeds of 10 Gbit/s, Galaxus Internet scores points for its flexible cancellation policy. Customers can terminate their contract at any time, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the month. The 79-franc, one-off activation fee includes a Zyxel router, which is delivered by post before the connection’s activated.
With the Family + Friends option, customers can share their plan with up to four people – be it their best friend, their grandma or a work colleague. Surfing the net together certainly pays off. Every time you add a new member to your Family, your plan fee reduces by one franc per month. So, if there are five of you, you’ll pay four francs less, and your plan will cost 35 francs per person. Students benefit from an additional five-franc discount on their plan. Plus, Family + Friends members can take advantage of the special student price too, bringing the price down to 30 francs per month.

HFC and TV plans in the pipeline
Anyone interested in a Galaxus Internet plan can check online whether a fibre-optic connection is available at their preferred location.
If the property doesn’t have a fibre-optic connection, there’ll soon be an alternative: «In summer 2025, we’ll be launching a slightly cheaper HFC (hybrid fibre coax) plan,» says Andreas Kundert, Head of B2B and one of the team members in charge of the Galaxus Internet project. HFC internet runs via the TV socket; it’s a mix of fibre optics and a copper coaxial cable for the final stretch. That means Galaxus’s service will be available to 95 per cent of Swiss households. A TV plan is set to launch in late summer as an add-on – perfect for anyone who’s unsatisfied with just Netflix, Disney Plus or Zattoo.
There’s more information on that in our interview with Andreas Kundert.
