1 round carabiner, 4 styling tips

Many people tie bows like shoelaces. Unfortunately, this technique doesn’t look great on clothing. I’ll show you how to get it right.
There are many hurdles you have to overcome when you’re a kid. Potty training, learning your times tables and ABCs – and tying your shoelaces. I was taught the square knot technique back in my day. A technique also known by the bunny rhyme: over, under, around and through, meet Mr Bunny Rabbit, pull and through. This will keep your shoes in place, but not your clothes. It only dawned on me in my mid-twenties, and after having butchered countless outfits with sloppily tied knots, that there might be alternatives.
The problem with the bunny method is that the bow ends finish up on opposite sides instead of dangling down next to each other. This doesn’t matter at all for shoes, but it does for coats and trousers. So I’d fiddle around with the bow, twisting it until the bow was in place, only for it to end up all wonky again. Now I know better. With the right technique, you’ll have your perfect bow at first go.
1. Tie a foundation knot.
2. Tie the lace that’s pointing downwards into a loop.
3. Pull the loop to the opposite side and place the upper lace over it.
4. Next, thread the upper lace through the loop so it creates a second loop.
5. Finally, pull it tight and, ta-dah, there’s your neat bow.
