Dog shower from hansgrohe: The human is enthusiastic, the dog lets it be

When it comes to gadgets that come with a lot of marketing promises, I'm skeptical at first - no matter if it's for humans or animals. Fortunately, it's not me who is testing the "Dogshower" from hansgrohe, but my parents. And they are thrilled.
At 30 years old, I like to sound like a classic baby boomer. Sentences like "Why do I need this, it worked like this before?" unfortunately cross my lips far too often. Or at least I think them. Like when my work colleagues suggested I test a shower head especially for dogs.

The company hansgrohe, known as a manufacturer of sanitary products and as part of the cycling team "Bora-hansgrohe", but not to be confused with the company Grohe, which also manufactures sanitary products, now also makes a shower head for dogs. It's supposed to sit comfortably in the owner's hand and relax the animal at the same time.
Kiba tests
Oh yes, I almost forgot: I don't have a dog. So my parents are involved in the test. That's a big plus for the objectivity of the test. Since a few months they have a dog again - Kiba- , who rubs himself with mud on the muddy place of the dog school like wellness enthusiasts with clay. Perfect hardship conditions for the "DogShower".

The shower with nubs is available in white, pink, turquoise and black. It is simply mounted on any standard shower hose. If you wash your dog in a normal shower or bath and don't want to keep unscrewing and screwing on the shower head to switch between humans and animals, you can also get a clickadaper. If you prefer to hose your dog down outside, you can find connections for that too, for example from Gardena. My parents don't need any of that, because they tiled a corner in the basement for our first dog years ago and installed a dog shower there.

The first thing my testing stepmom notices is that the shower feels good in her hand. Then she notices that there are different modes that can be changed via a button on the top of the shower head There is the fur spray, the leg spray and the paw spray. Pressing the toggle switch on the neck of the shower head intensifies the selected spray. So much for the theory.

Man is enthusiastic
In practice, after two weeks of testing, euphoric words reach me via Whatsapp: "I'm thrilled!", writes my stepmother. The paw spray is great for removing mud from between the toes, the leg spray is great for removing specific dirt rather than getting the whole dog soaking wet, and the nubs are great for brushing shampoo residue out of the coat. Also, the shower is well adapted to the dog's body. So much praise must be checked.

What I notice during my visit? The shower is really pretty and high quality, not as tacky as pet supplies usually are. And Kiba doesn't quite reach my stepmother's level of enthusiasm, but he willingly lets the procedure wash over him. Even when my father intensifies the jet with a switch. Kiba tolerates the subsequent blow-drying less willingly. He doesn't let a breath, not even a warm one from the hairdryer, touch his face and paws.
Conclusion
The shower head stays. It is comfortable to hold and does exactly what it is supposed to do, namely clean the dog. The soft nubs that get rid of shampoo are also convincing. And Kiba even seems to enjoy the light massage. My parents also find the price of the "DogShower" of 85.90 Swiss francs just about reasonable for the number of functions it offers.
