Advent calendars I just don’t get

Every year, people buy Christmas-themed cardboard boxes stuffed with all sorts of thingamabobs. I’m talking about Advent calendars, and, of course, we have them at Galaxus too. Frankly, I find many of them strange.
First things first: you may totally disagree with my opinion here. You may see one of these Advent calendars and think, «Woah, how cool is that?! Into my shopping cart it goes!» I won’t stop you. They’re all in stock, so you do you.
But I’m part-Grinch, so I have a whole set of issues with the festive season. The only Advent calendar I’m seriously ogling is the one from the make-up label Nyx; cosmetics are my guilty pleasure, and the calendar offers an easy way to try out a bunch of products.

As for the rest of Advent calendars...
Calories and more calories
I do enough snacking during the Christmas season as is. Cookies, roasted almonds, mulled wine – you name it. So why should I get an advent calendar with chocolate to boot? So that I can shove in my first load of sugar before breakfast? I’m not convinced.
But hey, maybe you’re one of those people who don’t regularly snack on cookies and the like, so a chocolate-filled Advent calendar is a special treat. If so, these products are for you.
Delayed gratification
Playmobil calendars are another concept I can’t wrap my head around. Why? Because patience is not my virtue.
Now, for parents who want to teach their children patience, these piecemeal calendars are most educational. I guess my mum neglected that lesson.
Oldie but goodie?
As I mentioned, I only really buy Advent calendars when I want to try out new products. I’m very pragmatic about that. And that’s why I never buy Advent calendars from previous years.
But maybe you’re looking for exactly that, because it’s got that one item you’ve been dying to have. Then grab away, we’ve still got some in stock!
On the other hand, if you’re on the hunt for newly released Advent calendars, check out the article below.
