9 things I buy to save on shipping costs (without ever regretting it)
«Honey, do we need anything else?» Before clicking the «Buy now» button, I make sure my digital shopping cart is full. These are the products that form part of my basic requirements and fill all the gaps.
At Galaxus, shipping is free for orders over 50 francs. That’s why I’m waiting until I’ve reached this before I place it. If I’m in a hurry, I throw a few essentials into the shopping cart that I’ll have to buy sooner or later anyway. Here are the shopping cart fillers I regularly buy and that go beyond the usual items like toilet paper and tampons.
For the household

Method All-purpose cleaner

Dr. Beckmann Bile soap
Liquid detergent
Is there anything better than the all-purpose cleaner from Method? I doubt it. It was the first cleaning product I bought after I moved into my own four walls. It’s been part of the inventory ever since. It does its job and smells pleasantly of grapefruit.
Speaking of clean things, the stain spray from Dr Beckmann is another go-to. It works with gall soap and removes practically every stain from my clothes. Inexpensive and practical, because I can just spray it on.
When it comes to candles, I like to spend more. That’s why I can also go for a more sustainable option made from a rapeseed oil blend. The Maxi tea lights from Müller illuminate larger candle jars better and for longer than the small standard tea lights.
For the salad

Alnatura Buckwheat
500 g

Roasted buckwheat grains are the perfect salad topping, and they add crunch! Rinse the buckwheat, drain and toast in a frying pan over a medium heat until golden in colour. You’ll quickly get through a pack like this.
Another product I like to mix generously into my salad is high-fibre psyllium husks!
I always add a dash of flaxseed oil to the dressing for my daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids. That’s why the small 250-millilitre bottles constantly need replacing in our household.

For the body and creative mind

Skin Republic foot peel
Foot cream & foot gel, 40 ml
I have extremely dry eyes and I also wear glasses. After a lot of trial and error, I ended up with the Dailies Total1 daily lenses and am very happy with them. As I wear the same thickness in both eyes, I only need to add one pack per order. And yes, this alone already exceeds the 50 francs. Nevertheless, the visual aids only ever end up in my basket as a filler.
When painting with watercolours, I tend to paint on small Van Gogh blocks. They consist of postcards and are ideal for creating birthday or Christmas cards.
I always top up my stock of foot masks from Foot Republic. They’re a kind of lazy, at-home treatment against calluses. You can read what I think’s great about the product here:
*Right, now I’m curious. Which shopping cart fillers do you swear by? We found out in this article by my colleague David Lee that the Community likes to reach into its bag of tricks and buy vouchers when they’re in this situation.
As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
This is a subjective opinion of the editorial team. It doesn't necessarily reflect the position of the company.
