A special blend from regions where the Max Havelaar Foundation provides subsidies to coffee farmers. Fair trade conditions for third-world producers are the stated goal of this collaboration between Chicco d'Oro and Max Havelaar. The foundation guarantees producers a minimum price necessary for their livelihood. The product is purchased directly from the producer, eliminating intermediaries. Therefore, those who drink Max Havelaar coffee can be assured that the cultivation is fairly compensated. In the border area with Italy, near Chiasso, specifically in Balerna, coffee has been roasted at Chicco d'Oro since 1949. The products are influenced by Italian traditions while keeping the Swiss taste in mind. Selected beans from mid-elevation slopes in Central America are blended by experienced roasters in varying nuances depending on the harvest, ensuring that the final product is what has made Chicco d'Oro a name in Switzerland.
