Fort Laramie

Major Seth Bradner (John Dehner) is primarily concerned about the ongoing issues with the nearby Sioux Indians at Fort Laramie. However, unrest is brewing within the fort's walls as news of turmoil between the North and South reaches them. When war is officially declared between the North and the South, Major Bradner and the Southern cavalry withdraw and return to Virginia and their homes in the South. Their journey home, however, takes them through Sioux territory, where they are attacked. When a messenger manages to bring news to the fort, Captain James "Jamie" Tenslip (Gregg Palmer) must decide whether to help them.

Bel-Air Productions, the company of Howard Koch and Aubrey Schenck, produced a series of mid-budget Westerns and horror films in the 1950s, and they had a penchant for forts. Examples include "Fort Yuma" (also directed by Lesley Selander) and "Fort Bowie" (directed by Koch), as well as this one. Perhaps this was due to their lease on the filming location in Kanab, Utah, and its wooden fort. Notably, Harry Dean Stanton made his film debut here, although he is not listed in the cast.
