The Rafale is a twin-engine multirole combat aircraft manufactured by the French company Dassault Aviation. The delta-winged mid-wing design with canards has pronounced short takeoff capabilities, which was crucial for operations on the relatively short French aircraft carriers. The Rafale C (for Chasseur) is the single-seat fighter version for the Air Force. The model features retractable landing gear, movable ailerons, and a detachable cockpit canopy.
