Product details
The former dining car and later saloon car of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits with the number 2419 D served as the place where the armistice between the German Empire and the Entente powers (UK, France, Russia) was signed on 11 November 1918, officially ending the First World War. In autumn 1918, the carriage became part of a command train for the general staff of Marshal Ferdinand Foch, the supreme commander of the Entente, and served as his office. This is where the signing of the First Armistice of Compiègne took place. And it was in this very car that the Second Armistice of Compiègne was signed some twenty-two years later, on 22 June 1940. This time between the National Socialist German Reich and France. After the first armistice was signed on 11 November, Marshal Foch also used the carriage during the subsequent armistice extensions of 16 December, 13 January, 16 February and 13 and 14 April 1919. It was not until September 1919 that the army returned the carriage to the railway company. The railway company donated it to the Republic, whereupon it was exhibited in various museums. The Germans took it from there in 1940 for the armistice negotiations on 22 June and then transferred it to Germany. There it was destroyed, probably sometime in March or April 1945, near Crawinkel in Thuringia. Model with 1945 parts, 2 figures and printed blocks. Model dimensions (LxWxH): 64.5 x 13.5 x 9 cm
