In my case I only use this cover when I'm there for safety, otherwise the normal cover at all times to keep the heat in and prevent dirt in the pool

I never put the black cover that came with the pool, but only that one. Yes, it raises the temperature considerably on a sunny day and also retains the night. My pool was 29 on Friday at the end of the day.
