Can the pump also be filled with filter balls instead of sand?
I put it on with balls and for me it worked fine. I haven't seen this piece that would require the weight of the sand, but I'll look harder to fit this season.
I think not. The weight of the sand is necessary for the operation because it fixes a part in the pump. If the pump runs without this fixation, it will not work.
