Product details

The Phoenix Canariensis, best known as the Canary Island date palm, is native to the Canary Islands. There are many different species of Phoenix, of which the Canariensis is the best known and most common. Phoenix Canariensis can now be found in all tropical climates, but in Spain and Italy these palms are often planted as street greenery or as ornamental plants. In a tropical climate, this palm can grow up to 18 metres tall, with leaves 5 to 6 metres long.

Care
The Phoenix Canariensis prefers a sunny location (full sun is not a problem) and a very well-drained soil. Water daily during a dry spring and/or a warm, dry summer. Make sure that the palm is always in well-drained soil and that excess water can drain directly from the pot. It is recommended to fertilise the palm once a year with concentrated or liquid plant food. The Phoenix Canariensis is a strong root-former and can be planted in the ground or in a pot. Make sure that the plant has enough space in a decorative pot. The plant is moderately hardy and tolerates a maximum of 5 degrees frost.
