Product details
The Camellia Japonica Dr. King, also known as the Japanese Rose, is a must-have for any garden. This plant is native to China, Japan, and Vietnam, where it grows high in the mountains. The Dr. King camellia blooms as early as the end of winter, between January and April, making it the perfect plant to welcome spring into your garden. It features beautiful pink or red flowers with a yellow center and creates a burst of color in the pre-spring garden with its many buds. The plant also adds color to the garden in winter, as it retains its foliage year-round. This makes it one of the best flowering plants for the Northern European climate. The plants are delivered with a height of 50-60 cm (measured with pot).
Care
The camellia prefers slightly acidic soil, ideally rich in humus. In summer, it is important to keep the soil around the plant well-moistened. The plant prefers a spot in partial shade. Over time, it will grow into a large shrub, but multiple plants can also be combined to form a large bush. Additionally, the camellia does not grow quickly, typically about 15-20 cm per year. Therefore, regular pruning is not necessary, especially in the early stages. However, it is important to remove spent branches and faded flowers.
