The advantages and properties of the aluminum-titanium-nitride (AlTiN) coating are numerous. It is an all-purpose coating suitable for universal applications. The AlTiN coating allows for the machining of hard materials such as steel or stainless steel, as well as materials like brass, bronze, or plastic. Another advantage over uncoated tools or tools with a TiN coating is that the use of cutting fluid is not strictly necessary. However, using coolant generally increases the tool life of the end mill.
