The needle bearing is a highly developed bearing solution manufactured according to the standards DIN 5405-1 and ISO 3030. This assembly consists of cages and needle rollers and is available in single-row or double-row designs. The single-row variant is characterized by a radial height that corresponds to the diameter of the needle rollers, allowing for compact storage. Needle bearings are known for their high load capacity and suitability for high speeds. They offer easy installation and achieve high running accuracy when the raceways are precisely shaped. The radial clearance can be influenced by the choice of needle roller type as well as by shaft and housing tolerances. For optimal performance, it is important that the raceway on the shaft and in the housing is hardened and ground. Double-row needle bearings are available in specific outer diameters and carry the designation ZW.
